A Moment..

Office Wedges £110

You know when you see a shoe and you are like 'Wow' but you can't work out wither its a good 'Wow' or a bad one, if you know what I mean..?
That's what i felt when i saw this shoe
But i have officially decided it's a good 'Wow' from me
Something about the dramatic contrast between the gold and black, that really shouldn't work but really does...
You may have seen this style before on PPQ's S/S 2011 catwalk as Office were the footwear suppliers for the show(I am guessing that is not the right term but it's late and i really can not think of the correct one...Ha)
Check out the collection here and  Buy the shoe here

I really want a pair of these for summer how perfect would they look with cut-offs or a midi-skirt...!

So, what do you guys think, are these a good 'Wow' moment for you or a bad one?

Wearing- Top/Dress- ASOS, Hoodie- Spoiled Brat, Shoes-ASOS

The lighting was a bit dodgy when I took these pictures today, so I couldn't really get many good pictures of the whole outfit!
I love this top, although its actually long enough to wear as a dress, Its so big and slouchy but because its silk it hangs really nice.  I put my new hoodie over it that I got from Spoiled Brat. Its from the label Public Library and it's got a lovely floral pattern all over it with batwing sleeves, but it's not photographed very well here I will do another post with it in it, I love hoodies but sometimes i feel like they are just so unflattering, whereas this one has a really lovely shape to it.  I think it will be great for over little dresses in summer!

I got these new shoes from ASOS today, I fell in love with them as soon as i saw them on the site, i had been looking for a pair like this with a proper sole on them rather than the normal rubber sole most moccasins come with.  So far they seem like the most uncomfortable shoes i have ever worn in my life,Ha But hopefully if i break them in enough they will stop hurting my feet as much! Fingers crossed!

EDIT- Just updated my Tumblr too, you can take a peek if you like here... Clear Of Mind To Dream

A big hello to all the natty fashionista visitors of my friend’s exquisite blog.

So, I have been invited by Is This Real Life to share with you a few new tunes that have been getting heavy rotation on my player recently.

I have prepared a wee mix-tape below featuring new indie/folk/pop goodness. I hope that some of you at least, will find something here that will have your head nodding, your foot tapping, or your lighters swaying in the air.

Walk The Moon - Anna Sun

Take an instant happy pill and turn the volume high for an insistently catchy indie-pop song that will take over your brain, and probably the world, once word of mouth does its thing. If this doesn't make you smile like a fool, then you're stronger willed than me!
Listen Here

Bear Bones - Oil & Lacquer

Scotland is going through a purple patch of late, with great lyrical bands releasing brilliant new albums at every turn. Check out this tune for a smiley, head-swaying slice of whimsy.
Listen Here

Hold Your Horses! – 70 Million

This tune has started to get some heavy Youtube viewing numbers. And you can see why – a beat and guitar-driven, gravel-voiced song that makes you want to dance around the computer. And it’s all wrapped up in a culturally inspired video. Try and name all the paintings, if you can. Oh, and they’re French wouldn’t you know.
Listen Here

I Am Kloot - Northern Skies

This band have been around for a while but they really have pulled out something special with Northern Skies. The lyrics are obscure but it’s reflective and nostalgic and ultimately just simply beautiful. Let the strings flow over you and take you somewhere else.
Listen Here

Admiral Fallow – Subbuteo

No video for this one – they are still too shiny and new! Another Scottish band with a singer who is able to tease out every trace of emotion from this, a mini-anthem of yearning and childhood (it seems to me).
Listen Here

Aaron – Seeds of Gold

Another French band singing in English. A simple affecting melody and a one-two beat gradually swells into something powerful and epic.
Listen Here

Elizabeth & The Catapult – Thank You For Nothing

Ok ok, I know that this is a more downbeat end to proceedings, but hey, some of the most stunning songs come from artists who hurt, right? And so with this, a song born from a failed relationship. It could almost be a love song in retrospect, until the lyrics gently reveal the hurt-spiked message, particularly in the absolutely crushing refrain “thank you for everything… and thank you for nothing at all”. And boy, what a voice.
Listen Here

Well there we go, you wonderful people, I shall now leave you in peace. Thanks again to Is This Real Life for allowing me the blog space. It has been a pleasure.

See you around.

The Model Agency

I am a sucker for any sort of fashion-themed TV and Films.  Seriously I would watch, the good, the bad and everything in between if it had the promise of being about fashion.
Like everyone else i love all the fictionalised drama of Movies like The devil Wears Prada and and the early days of The Hills with all the Teen Vogue (unplanned?!?!) fashion moments.
But for me nothing beats real reality TV and documentaries when it comes to the fashion world.  I think that it's and industry that, not always of course but often can take its self so series that what happens behind the scenes can actually be more jaw-dropping and shocking than any script writer could come up with.
So it lends itself so well to those formats.
It's also getting that real glimpse of a world that for so long was kept hidden.  A vision of glamour and endless partying was what most outsiders thought a career in fashion involved.  Instead through countless shows and in depth movies people got see what really goes on behind one of the most talked about industries.  Hard work, un-glamorous hours, not always great pay and a sometimes very critical and brutal environment to work in although also seen was the beautiful clothes, endless opportunities and fabulous perks which kind of way up the balance, right?

Films like Lagerfeld confidential (was of my favourite documentaries EVER) and The September issue gave a view of modern day fashion legends as they worked.  And tv shows like America's Next top model (and Britain...and Australia's...and Germany's...and..) also showed a different aspect of what it's like to try and get into the industry whereas shows like Running In Heels showed what it's like trying to stay at the top of it.

So as you can imagine i was so excited when last week I started to hear about a new TV show on Channel 4 (in the UK) called The Model Agency.  The 7-part show goes behind the scenes in one of the most notorious parts of the fashion world- Modelling.
The documentary series See's unprecedented access to the world-famous Premier Model Management who are leaders in their field. They have nurtured some of the world's greatest models including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista.

I couldn't believe when i heard it was Premier taking part.  For such an established company to be allowing access all areas to film this documentary is amazing.
I love the whole feel of the show from the clips I have seen.  It feels real, which to me is the most important thing when we are so used to being feed a scripted reality from MTV.

I really hope this is an opportunity to see the real side of the modelling world that is so often shielded from the public view.  I want to see if all the rumors and illusions are true or if they are just simply that, just rumors.

Channel 4 has been on a roll with their real-life documentaries lately, what with the whole 'Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' show (seriously, don't even get me started on that one....!) So hopefully this one will be just as um...interesting and eye-opening as that.

Here is a clip for you all to check out of the show and click HERE for more info on it and some exclusive clips too.  The show is on Channel 4 this Wednesday at 10 O'clock.  And for any non-Uk'ers out there wanting to check it out, I think you should be able to view it on 4OD.

Let me know what you think?
Are you a fan of 'Fashion-Type' shows and are you looking forward to this one?

Sunday Show and Tell..

So for this week's Show and Tell I thought i would finally get round to doing something I have been meaning to for a while.  Thanking all the lovely bloggers who have given me blog awards and Tags over the past few months.  I appreciate them all sooo much and I am so happy that you like my blog enough to pass them on to me!
So ....Because they all tell you to do different things I thought i would just tell you a random fact about myself I know most of them ask for about 7 but honestly, I struggled to think of one...
Well here goes...

1.  Liza Minnelli was at my prom...No seriously she was... Kinda.  At my High School we had a end of year 'Social' which was basically a poor man's version of a prom.  We had ours in a big hotel in the city centre.  The hotel's front door also happened to be directly (And i mean, like two steps away from) the backdoor of one of the city's biggest concert venues.  Half way through the night me and one of my friends was at the bar, getting everyone drinks when we heard the bartenders talking about who was next door playing a concert.  As soon as we heard the words Liza, me and my friend ran outside to the venue.  You see we are both fan's of the 'legends' Dolly,Streisand, Ms Midler, anyone who is remotely camp, glittery and ridiculously over the top we appreciate very much so.  So hearing that one of them was a couple of feet away we were excited to say the least. Basically to cut a long story short, after befriending Liza's band (they were all well into their 60's, just call us Penny Lane,Ha) we waited with about a crowd of ten to see the women herself emerge, not before my Friend lead the fellow Liza fan's in a rousing rendition of one of her greatest hits.  Did i mention my Friend may or may not have been under the influence. Anyway when Liza finally emerged to mine and my Friends calls of 'We love you Liza' and 'Go Liza, Go Liza' (we got a little caught up in the moment) she briefly said hello to us waved and moved on to the next person.  Before she made it into her car my friend turned and went 'Your mother is a pure Legend Liza' (said in a strong Scottish accent) before a small burst of Somewhere over the rainbow, And with that Liza gave us a very dirty stare and promptly went into her waiting car.  My friend then turned to me and asked 'Was it something I said...' It was my best celebrity sighting yet!

Ah I want to be a Yayer girl when I grow up!
How cool do these ladies look
Seriously, I don't know about you but when i go on sites like NastyGal I always come away wanting absolutely everything from their store
So when I stumbled across Yayer for the first time, a little while ago
I had that exact same feeling.
It's such an epic store
That not only do you get styling ideas from the way the clothes are pictured
But You also get the choice of some of the best priced British Vintage around without having to do the rummaging.

Yayer also has a non-vintage section too which is every bit as pretty as their pre-loved goods!

I was lucky enough a few months ago to be given a beautiful chunky knit cardigan by Yayer (click HERE to see me wearing it in a post) and honestly I haven't had it off since.
My favourite pieces from Yayer always seem to be their sweaters and knitwear
I just think they always have such a great selection of vintage knitwear that you would be able to throw on and it would look great with everything!

I have been having a browse of their site today and have picked some of my favourite bit's to show you
I am more than in love with the loose style wrap in the second last photo
It just looks really chic and perfect for summer
Also how amazing is the first shirt in the top image
Seriously- 80's awesome-ness or what
Oh and don't even get me started on the cuteness of the backpack!

I will put the link to all these pieces below
But i would say if you have your eye on something get it fast
As everything seems to sell out in a flash on this site!

Let me know what you think!

Show and Tell Sunday...

I have been watching some episodes of My So-Called Life this afternoon and it has just rejuvenated my love for the era that I was born in.

The clothes, the music and the sense of a new mysterious decade approaching everything seemed fresh.

I wonder if I am so found of everything 90’s because it was when I grew up or maybe it’s just because it’s in the past and rose-coloured spectacles make you think of things different of how the actually were.

Either way it was perfect in every way for me

I may not have been old enough to appreciate and expereince it all (I was only born in 1990) but I certainly remember the vibe and feeling of the time.

The 1990’s was a moment

And for me no other band sums up the generation more than Oasis. Think what you will about them now but there is no denying the impact they had. They shaped and styled (badly?) the decade and still when I hear any of their music it makes me think of being about 8 or 9 and playing outside with my friends in the summer, these songs played through bedroom windows, car’s with their top down cruising down the street and on Top of The Pops every week seeping into my subconscious and forming memories without me even realising, it was a soundtrack I never picked but one I unknowingly lived by and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Enjoy my favourites from the band

Let me know your memories from the 90’s

Jacket-TK MAXX, Tee- Zara, Shorts-Topshop, Scarf- Handknitted by my mama, Bag- ASOS

For some reason we got one day of Summer and sunshine today
So I took the opportunity to wear less than four layers
Which was quite a novelty

If you had read my posts a few down
You will have seen me mentioning TK MAXX
Its a shop i rarely enter because of the way its laid out, just rails and rails of clothes is something i don't enjoy raking through.
Although i am always really envious of the bargains people seem to get in it.
So a few weeks ago i ended up nipping in to have a browse and I am so glad i did
I got this coat for £5 down from £60 - I was so pleased with the bargain
I also got a hat for £1 down from £30, so crazy!

I loved that this coat was like so wrong it's right, I feel like its sort of like an old man coat.
sort of like one that men wear to the horse racing,Ha!
I really like it though and it's surprisingly warm
I wanted it to be really over sized so i got a much bigger size, which i think makes it look a bit slouchy-er which i really like!
So TK MAXX came up trumps with my coat and hat, I wouldn't say I'm a convert yet but i will definitely be checking it out more than i used too!

I had been wanting a scarf like this for ages and i had saw really pretty one's in Zara that i loved but they were about £25 or £30 which personally i find a bit crazy for a woolen scarf and also they didn't have the colour i wanted
So I asked my mama to knit me one instead which was so much better as i got to pick the style/length/colour etc. I am beyond happy with it and I've barely taken it off since,
ah the joys of having a mama with a knitting store!

Hope you all got a little bit of Summer where ever in the world you are today!

Reiss 1971.....

This is the 1971 lookbook from Reiss
Even though Reiss is considered a 'High Street Store' I think it's about as high end as the high street gets
Which means fabulous cuts and amazing fabrics
but sadly it also means much much higher prices too
Reiss is normally way out of my price range
But with their 1971, I find that now some of the pieces are actually really affordable and not even much more than Topshop on some pieces.
I just fell in love with these looks from the newest collection
I just see Serena Van Der Woodsen when i look at this
I think it manages to mix her Upper East Side chic-ness with her casual quirky-ness
I could imagine her rocking each look through out this whole season on Gossip Girl, no?

I always get really excited when i see a stores 'GIRL' cleary in their collections
Not to sound too fashion-y
but what i mean is I see the girl that would wear the first outfit being able to wear each look throughout the week, taking her from morning to night, from work to a bar right up to lazin' about on a Sunday afternoon
I think that a lot of High Street collections try to fit a bit of every trend into their collection
Which i totally get because if you think about the wide spectrum of women they are designing for-
Sometimes age ranges that span decades,
Then it makes sense why most of their collections don't have much of a common thread
Whereas it's nice to see Reiss abandon the latest style fads (apart from sequins, but seriously i think everyone could do with more sequins in there life, right?)
and opt for a more cohesive collection

What do you guys think?
Are you a fan of Reiss?
I think it's really important that i have look 6,7 and 8 in my wardrobe
My fall back outfit just now is my jeans/chinos and a sweatshirt which basically sums up these looks except with a Spring/Summer twist
So now i have to basically go save for a few years to be able to buy it all,Ha!......
