The Best Damn Thing Your Eyes Have Ever Seen

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I've never been a slipper wearing girl
I've always been a big-fluffy-thick socks-from-primark kinda girl.
But last winter I spent the whole time moaning about how cold my feet were constantly and had to even wear my Ugg boots inside, just to warm up.
So to stop my moaning my awesome mama gave me an early Christmas present and got me some granny-chic slippers that I had been coveting.
And I've got to say I am such a slipper convert, my little feet have been so warm and cosy ever since I got them.
I love that they are so cute and old/retro looking, like a real pair of slippers from the 'olden days'!!!
So the question that I pose to you lovely people is, are you a slipper kinda gal or do you find them too 'old school'?

My slippers are from HERE

Harvard Hoodie- Inkwell and Ivy,
Fur Gilet - Ellos,
Jeans-ASOS,
Shoes-Converse,
From left to right Rings- Rock 'n' Rose, Rock 'n' Rose and Disney Couture.
Necklace-ASOS,
Earrings-Topshop

Soooo, This is a majorly over-due post as I was meant to post about this new fur Gilet I got at the start of last week but unfortunately I have been a bit out of action blog-wise as I had caught a horrid flu-y type thing that everyone seems to be getting just now. But thankfully I’m finally starting to feel a little less flu-like now!

I got sent this AMAZE fur gilet from a brand called Ellos.
For those of you unaware of the brand, Ellos is a Swedish based online store that is massive in....well....Sweden!
It (kinda) recently launched in the UK and I have been lucky enough to sample a few of their products.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this gilet as I had been desperate to try one out over a hoodie like i had mentioned in This post.

The gilet came with a matching leather (pleather?) tie that closes it over to look more like a jacket/cardigan but I much preferred it without.
The fur so far hasn't shed and its super soft and cosy and it helps, heat-wise, that it's all lined inside too.
The only thing I would say is that the stores clothes seem to run on the smaller side of the size. This product and the other one that I have from there (more on that laterzzz) fit but are definitley smaller made.  So it's just something to watch out for when you are ordering, I would definitely try ordering your size and the one above too just to make sure you get the fit you like.

I love a bit of faux fur but I hate wearing it in a WAG way, if you know what I mean.  All glitz and fur.  I like the contrast of wearing some dressy fur with a big ole' hoodie and dressing it down with jeans and some chucks'.

One of the best things about Ellos is the prices.  Everything is super reasonable.  If I had to compare it to another store I would say it was pretty similar to H&M price wise. Most of the clothes in the store are basics, tee's, sweats, lovely chunky knits.  That kinda thing.  So if you’re looking for a new place to get some 'Winter Warmers' I would give them a go, they don't have too much of what I would call 'dressy' things on the site but I think it will definitely be on my browsing list when I’m looking for some new basics now.

What do you guys think of my hoodie?
I am obsessed with Ivy League clothes, as you will all know if you have been reading my blog for a while.
I love everything about the whole Ivy League thing and how preppy and American (obvz!) it is and I have so many pieces from the official clothing brand of the colleges.

This has been on my must have list for years and I cannot believe I finally own one.  It's not an exaggeration to say I have never had it off.  I got it just in time for the cold snap starting and I cannot even describe to you how warm and cosy it is.

Also the thing I was most surprised about though was the fit.  I was expecting it to be big and baggy and shapeless (circa The Gap Hoodies of the past) but it is completely different.  I'm not going to try and say it makes you dramatically slimmer or anything because hello, it’s still a hoodie but it really is a flattering shape compared to most sweaters. It looks bulkier here only because the fur is over it.  And after being washed so many times already the shape has stayed so well and it hasn't bobbled at all (my pet peeve of hoodies) I love that it goes with everything and I can dress it up or down. And to be honest with you it just makes me feel pretty smart wearing something that says Harvard on it, Ha!

The best place to buy all your Ivy League goodies (unless you live in America and actually go to an Ivy League, oh and if you do, please let me know what it’s like, is it just like the movies, please say yes!!) is Inkwell and Ivy, I have bought all my stuff from there, they have beyond amazing service and everything comes super quick in the most beautiful packaging.  If you love the whole college thing as much as me you have to check them out as they sell loads of other preppy brands too, oh and they also sell the same luggage that Serena uses on her travels in Gossip Girl, beeeeautiful!

Buy the Ellos fur HERE (I see that their site says you get 20% off if you order anything from the A/W collection right now!)

P.S Excuse the crazy dark roots, I am getting my hair re-done next week Yah! Oh and excuse the squinting face too it was sunny and i couldnt see without my sunglasses on!!!

Model Contest...

So, I thought some of you may like to hear about a pretty cool competition that is running at the moment involving a brand I love and have blogged about here before.
I LOVE a good twitter comp, seriously is it not totally the easiest way to enter competitions?
Its just so quick and simple, although that being said, I couldn't even begin to stagger a guess at how many random RT twitter comps I have entered and I still have never won any.
Although i have only ever won one competition in my life, It was a radio contest i gave the correct answer and I won a Destiny's Child CD, I know, I know, awesome-ist prize ever right?
Although I'm still waiting for it to arrive to this day, about 9 years later.....
Not that I'm bitter about it or anything....
Like totally didn't want it anyway....Ha!!!!

I know all of my beeeeautiful readers look like models so I think you should all enter.....And then take me with you to stay in the freakin' cool hotel when you win!!!
The official word is below....

London based model agency D1 MODELS and New York’s hipster fashion label SGC NY have teamed up to find the girl for the brands SS12 campaign…via Twitter.

The winner will star in SGC_NY’s SS12 video + photo shoot and secure representation with one of London’s hottest model agencies, D1 Models.

They’re looking for a girl who defines the brands downtown cool and effortless style.  A girl with energy and heart, influenced by fashion/ art  / music.

To apply, girls need to submit their photo on Twitter with the phrase
 “I WANNABE THE @SGC_NYC GIRL WITH @D1Models”.
Applicants must also follow both @SGC-NYC and @D1Models so they can be contacted if they’ve made it onto the shortlist and find out the next step.

D1 and SGC will monitor the entries throughout the month and the favorites will be displayed at www.sgcny.com/d1modelcontest for people to vote.
The top girls from the site will be invited to meet with D1 and SGC before the final winner is announced.

The winner will be flown to New York in January and stay in hip boutique hotel The MAve.
And for girls that don’t land the SGC campaign, there is still hope…D1 will be signing up the best applicants during the entry process.

The contest is open to all female UK & US residents who are over 5”7 and age 17-25.  Applicants must be available to shoot in New York between 7-9th January 2012.

Versace X H&M

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

So, I know everyone will be posting about this today, but i really just couldn't help myself.
I normally, as a rule try to stay away from the big designer/high street collabs as i hate seeing everyone walking down the street wearing the exact same thing I'm wearing which is what i feel normally happens with these types of things but really this is just too special to miss out on, i think.

My everyday style is pretty laid-back and natural as you will have seen through my outfit posts. Though on of my favourite things to do with my outfits is to keep everything simple and then inject this massive contrast, whether it involves glitter shoes, gold right-side-of-trashy-Harlem- hoops or some crazy granny style 80's print.  When i go over the top, i go over the top, if you know what i mean.
Which is why i think i have always been attracted to Versace, specifically the 80's, early 90's era of versace.  Everything they do is so over the top and its the definition of glamour.  I love Italian glamour I really don't think there is anything to beat it, the patterns, the gold, the colours, the clashing, everything about it manages to make big bold statements but without earring on the 'trashy' side.
When i saw the print campaign of this collection i didn't really know what to think, it wasn't really what i was expecting but then i laid eyes on the lookbook and i was blown away, its the perfect mix of original versace designs and h&m's functional wears.
I need those Red patterned trousers in my life, seriously they will be a forever piece and those dresses just have the words sell - out all over them, don't they?
I am so impressed because this is the first h&m collection where i have really felt like you are getting a proper piece of the designer, the cuts, shapes, patterns and styles all look authentic to the brand and I for one want a little piece of Versace in my life.

What about you, what did you guys think?

Its all gone Zaini

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Last week I got the loveliest little package sent to me with this super cute hat inside it.
It is from Zaini.
Zaini is a hat company started in 2010 by Scottish Ski instructor Miranda Harper who was working at a ski resort  in Switzerland at the time and decided that there wasn't enough pretty and warm hat's about so went and made her own!
The hat is crocheted and has a strip of warm fleece round the head/ears bit and is also lined for heat too!

I LOVE hats but i don't know if i necessarily suit all hats, i have mega thick hair which always seems to make my head look bigger when i wear hats but it doesn't stop me wearing them and i was so excited to try this one out!

I adore how slouchy it is and the colours and pom-pom are so fun too. Being a fellow Scot like Miranda I am very thankful for her making the hat super warm as its starting to get so cold here and this is perfect for keeping my head warm, i hate when you get ice head (or brain freeze, whatever you like to call it) when its so cold outside!

I have started to see more and more of these cropping up everywhere from magazines to them all wearing them in the Big Brother house, i definitely don't think you need to be near a ski sloop to rock a Zaini hat!

You can check them all out and buy them HERE, they are really great reasonable prices too!
I would definitely recommend them as a different alternative to a woolly hat for winter time, i think this one seems warmer and i think its super pretty too!

So hat news aside, a little life update for you as i feel i have majorly been neglecting the blog the past week or so.
This week after years of wanting it done I went and finally got my nose pierced (you can see it in the picture above) I am so happy with it as i have always wanted it but have been too scared to get it done in case it was sore.  It was a little uncomfortable but nothing un-bearable to be honest although it still is a little tender now, so i hope it settles down soon.  So glad i done it though, I felt so brave, HaHa!

Also following in my footsteps my mum got brave this week too and got a tattoo (pictured above)
My mum has always wanted a rose tattoo since she was my age but never got one so for her 60th birthday, which is just in a few weeks time she decided to finally go for it and get her first tattoo, so we went off to the tattoo parlour for the second time in one week and she got it today.
She was so calm I was like are you not nervous, I think i was more nervous for her,HaHa!
She wanted it to be noticeable so got it on her wrist, its pretty small but looks big in the picture for some reason. She is so happy with it and I'm so happy she got it, i think its so lovely that she finally got it done after all this time!
I can't believe its my mum that has got the first tattoo in my whole family, so funny, she is totes Rock 'n' Roll!!

Sunday Show and Tell

"Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch.
This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras.
It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.
Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue.
It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous.
Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."
It was their farewell message as they signed off.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
And I have always wished that for myself.
And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
Thank you all very much."

Steve Jobs addressing Stanford University students at their Graduation.

A few Sunday Show and Tells ago I put up a quote from John Green.  Where he said, find someone who can do what you want to do better than you can do it and listen to them.
I don't think there is anyone on earth who couldn't learn from listening to Mr.Jobs, no matter what you want to do/are doing in life, his genius was and always will be an inspiration.
To the man that changed our world......
